Rare two-body oak cabinet, composed of carved panels from the Flemish Renaissance* presenting episodes from the Prodigal Son (Flemish inscriptions), lower part decorated with caryatids from the same period, elements found in Alsace and coming from Malines, from the mid-16th century. Furniture assembled by the Marquis de Marguerie** in the 19th century.

This cabinet is in good condition and is of exceptional quality. Richly carved, high quality decorations. It opens with two doors and two drawers at the top / 1 door and 1 drawer at the bottom / doors on the sides (with secret caches at the bottom).

Precise explanation inside a door. The 16th century panels and statues were found by the Marquis de Marguerie in Alsace in the 19th century. He had them mounted as furniture in the 19th century, and included his coat of arms (visible with the caryatids: (azure with three daisies). It is stated that these panels were of such beautiful quality that the director of the Cluny Museum had casts made for the Trocadéro Museum (most likely the Museum of French Monuments).
