French ceramist and President of the Chambre Syndicale des Céramistes et des Ateliers d'Art de France and organizer of the Salon des Ateliers d'Art AA, which are today the Fondation des Ateliers d'Art de France and the Salon Maison&Objet. A student of the École des Arts Appliqués de Paris, Marcel Guillot worked in various workshops in the Paris region, at the Sèvres factory. He decided to become independent and create his own workshop in Paris with a gas kiln while collaborating with the porcelain maker Jacques Lobjoy. Then he settled in Varenne-Saint-Hilaire and working with electric kilns, and finally in Saint Maur des Fossés. His workshop of 30 people produces pieces that are sold via the AA fair and in department stores. Various ceramists pass through his workshop, such as Fernand Lacaf or Michel Lanos. Marcel Guillot creates utilitarian ceramics, but also a stoneware bestiary. The decoration is painted or engraved on stoneware or porcelain shapes with often matte enamels.
