Solid silver Louis XV medal for the Laying of the First Stone of the Statue of the King in Rennes (Brittany), year 1744, 18th century.

This medal is in good general condition.

On the obverse: LUDOVICUS XV / REGI CHRISTIAN. / REDI. AND TRIUM/HOC AMO. PIG. / AND SAL. COULD. MONU / COM. ARM. POSU. / Mr. DCC. XLIV. Obverse description: Inscription on the base of the statue of Louis XV. A woman draped in the antique style on either side of the statue. In the middle the oval shield of Brittany and on the left, a lit altar, on the right a marine anchor. Signed: FM. (at the bottom right). On the reverse: LUDOVICO XV. / REGI CHRISTIANISSIMO, / REDIVIVO ET TRIUMPHANTI, / HOC AMORIS PIGNUS, / ET SALUTIS PUBLICAE MONUMENTUM / COMITIA ARMORICA POSUERE / ANNE M. DCC. XL IV..
