* Nicolas Anne de/du BOIS de BEAUCHESNE (1758-1835):

His name was exactly Anne-Nicolas Dubois; (then after the purchase in Trédion, Morbihan, of the Château de Beauchesne, Mr du Bois de Beauchesne); From his marriage in 1782 to Marie Vial de Bièvre, daughter of the First Clerk of the General Administration of Finance, he had 5 children including Viscount Hyacinthe Alcide du BOIS de BEAUCHESNE (1804-1873).
He of course entered the financial administration, and became receiver general of the Fermes du Roi in Lorient, then customs. However, the revolution forced him to reconvert, and, having become friends with the painter Hue, he began an artistic and commercial career in Lorient. His wife, under the name Dubois-Vial, opened a shop in Lorient to sell Indian fabrics and canvases. His son Arthur having made his fortune, as favorite minister of the sovereign of Aoudh, in Lucknow, in India, he ended his days in a pleasant residence in Clichy sous Bois.
His son Hyacinthe Alcide du BOIS de BEAUCHESNE, became a poet and devoted himself entirely to letters in the pretty Gothic villa (Manoir de Beauchesne) that he had built in the Bois de Boulogne, avenue de Madrid. A book "La simple portraicture du Manoir Beauchesne" by E. Deschamps describes this manor precisely, where we find the coat of arms of the master of the house as well as the motto "Ma Fidélité Fait Ma Strength".
