Rare Persian-Ottoman Pala or Shamshir saber, curved damascened steel blade with false edge with Arabic decorations and inscriptions, gold damascened metal quillons with curved ears, blond horn handle, scabbard covered in shagreen and metal fittings with gilt inscriptions, provenance Turkey - Iran, late 18th-early 19th centuries.
This sword is in good overall condition. It is of superb quality. The blade is finely decorated with inscriptions in Arabic or French, most likely blessings or religious invocations (perhaps even the name of the blacksmith on the false edge).
