* Graphometer to alidade to finlets bronze or carved golden brass with small flowers, signed "Meurand ** in Paris," in its original leather case, period last quarter of the eighteenth century.

This graphometer is in good condition. He has his knee sleeve or shell that allows to place it in the desired position (tight by a screw).

A note: the case is torn and damaged, small slot on the sleeve, slight wear and scratches time, well look at photos.

* The graphometer

is the essential instrument of French surveyors from the Renaissance to the survey which is the science of measurement of areas. The graphometer used to establish small-scale maps and to measure the angles based on different elements of the landscape as the bell towers or trees. This tool consists of a mobile rule called alidade pinnae of which are small copper plates having a vertical slot in which the eye is placed to the target and a compass that guides the instrument.
