Polychrome porcelain magot in the Meissen chinoiserie style (perhaps Samson Manufactory), representing an Asian character seated cross-legged, hands outstretched in front, in a garment richly embroidered with colored flowers, head (and tongue) and hands movable, Ovington Bro's* (New York) mark on the inside, early 20th century.
This hoard is in good condition and of good quality. It is very decorative. Signature inside.

* In the mid-1800s, the Ovington brothers opened a shop on Fulton Street in New York City, selling fine china imported from famous European manufacturers such as Sèvres and Minton. In 1883, a fire destroyed the store, and less than a year later, the brothers opened a six-story department store in Manhattan. The last of the three Ovington brothers died in 1909, and other family members took over the store while continuing to sell fine china, bronzes, glassware, and other treasures. In the late 1920s, the store's name was shortened to Ovingtons.
