* This street, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, was one of the major axes connecting the upper and lower parts of the city. Only a small section of Rue Montagne de la Cour remains today, just below Place Royale. The rest has disappeared to make way for the Mont des Arts. This project, implemented in two phases (turning from the 19th to the 20th century, and the 1950s and 1960s), led to the demolition of a vast old commercial and popular space, with the aim of replacing it with a new cultural center of monumental character.
