Rare and important fountain or reserve baptismal water or holy water Haute Epoque, lead (and tin), in the form of a Gothic cathedral or reliquary reliquary, with architectural decoration of pinnacles, poly-lobed arch and buttresses, from a community religious of the region of Mâcon (Burgundy), vintage late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries.

This fountain is in good condition and is of exceptional quality. Its decor and size make it a rare piece of Catholic worship. This piece was passed thirty years ago in public auction (description and photo of the catalog of time visible in last photo).

A note: traces of repair in the background, some deformations at the top pinnacles, some shocks and wear of time, look at the pictures.

* Baptismal water reserve: covered container, usually made of metal (copper or lead), to preserve the baptismal water when it is not contained directly in the baptismal font. (Extract "Religious Objects of the Catholic Cult" Editions du Patrimoine)
