*Omega

is a Swiss luxury watch company based in Biel. In 1848, Louis Brandt, then aged 23, opened an establishment counter5 in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the canton of Neuchâtel. His watches bear the “Louis Brandt” brand. In 1879, the two sons of the founder, Louis-Paul and César Brandt, decided to embark on “American-style” industrial manufacturing. They settled permanently in Biel in the canton of Bern. Before the end of the decade, the company became the largest in Swiss watchmaking. By its seniority, its longevity, its visibility (sports timekeeping, space conquest) and its size, Omega is one of the flagship companies of the Swiss watch industry. It was indeed the pioneer in the industrialization of production (mechanization, mass production).
