Morestel watercolor "City of painters" by Louis Bissinger, 20th century

Watercolor of a view of the city of Morestel nicknamed the "City of Painters", in Isère, Louis signed and dated 1955 * Bissinger, vintage twentieth century.

Watercolor dedicated by the artist " A R. Luigi ", his antique dealer friend who welcomed him during his stays in the region.

Good condition. It is signed, dated and annotated below.

* Louis Bissinger (1899-1978): in the region of Dauphiné which is dear to him, he meets and frequents many painters from Lyon and befriends GIACOMINO, ANSELME, ABEL GAY, ROMAGNOL, Mademoiselle SOUDAN as well as REIGNIER , with who he shares the same admiration for the painter RAVIER . Certain works by Louis Bissinger bear the signature " Bérard " or " Régis Bérard ", a pseudonym he often used. He participated after the war of 1939-1945 in many exhibitions. He obtained the 1st Prize of the city of Lyon in 1945. During the war, he was arrested and deported to a camp from where he returned to the liberation. From this stay, he made some watercolors. In 1950, he moved to Morestel called the City of Painters. This city becomes his adopted country. He worked there until 1960. In the meantime, he obtained the 1st Prize of the Friends of the Arts in Grenoble in 1954. The French State, as well as the Army Museum, crowned his success by acquiring several of his works in 1957. After several stays in Franche-Comté with his wife Yvette (in particular in Lons-le-Saunier in the Jura with his antique dealer friends Mlle and M.Luigi) but also in Burgundy, Alsace, Champagne in the Marne.
