Carved wooden stoup representing the White Queen of Castile with her hands folded in prayer, standing on a shell, XIXth century.

This font is in good condition.

A note: a few small accidents and losses especially at the crown, restored slot on the right side, some wear of time, see photos.

* Blanche of Castile (1188 -1252)

is queen of France by her marriage to Louis VIII. Daughter of King Alfonso VIII of Castile and Eleanor of England (herself daughter of Eleanor of Aquitaine and King of England Henry II Plantagenêt), on May 23, 1200 she married Prince Louis of France, son and heir to King Philippe Auguste. She is the mother of Saint Louis, to whom she gives a very pious education, and exercises the regency between the death of her husband, Louis VIII, and the majority of her son.
