Solid silver egg cup hallmarked Vieillard (1st standard Paris 1819-1838) and Paris Medium Guarantee hallmark, with applied decoration* of coats of arms composed of a shield supported by two rampant and facing lions, all topped with a marquis's crown, above a stylized vegetal frieze, from the first half of the 19th century.

This egg cup is in very good condition and of remarkable quality. Hallmarked at the bottom (see photos).

* The term "appliqué" refers to one or more decorative elements, each carved and chiseled separately—often a cartouche, a garland, or a coat of arms (as in our case here)—which are then soldered onto the smooth body of the object to give it relief. Our egg cup shown here features a beautiful floral garland encircling it and the chiseled coat of arms below.
